The Perfect Match: Cal.com and Campsite for Remote Teams

Calendar Scheduling That Makes a Difference

At Cal.com, we often talk about how our product arose out of necessity. It's how a lot of startups arise, after all—necessity is the mother of invention. You probably already know this, but Cal.com is a remote and async-first company, and this comes with its own unique rewards and challenges. For example, we have to figure out how to co-work and communicate across multiple time zones every day. Our own product, Cal.com, is great when it comes to facilitating synchronous communication, but that's not the primary way we work. You see, being async means that someone is always working to move things forward. Being remote means that we're not limited by geography in terms of the talent that we hire and retain. Being both of those things means that we have a lot to juggle when it comes to managing collaboration.

The Search for the Perfect Collaboration Tool

Our quest to find an ideal communication solution means we've tried a lot of different collaboration suites. Each one had its pros and cons, and at one point, we did find Goldilocks zone. However, that particular product has since shut its doors, which meant we had to search for a new virtual home. There were a wide range of options; we could have gone with an established brand. That isn't what we chose to do, and it's actually a really good thing. You see, we ended up stumbling across a communication solution called Campsite. The product has just exited private beta, but it's something special, and more importantly, it's built for async companies.

Campsite lets users create multiple spaces for their organization. You can think of these as virtual gathering places for threaded conversations, chats, and documents. You can have a separate space for product development, marketing, and anything else you can think of. You can also control which team members have access to each space. This helps to create a mesh-like environment that prevents things from falling between the cracks. Using Campsite as part of our communications lets us flag topics for follow-up and keep up with the latest internal developments without having to give up the joy of async work.

This is essential because it helps us preserve our work-life balance, which in turn helps to ensure that everyone is operating efficiently. As you can imagine, efficiency is something that's important to us, not just because it impacts Cal.com's spot online, but also because of how it affects our users. The better our internal communication is, the more we can build, ship, and redefine calendar scheduling.

In addition to Cal.com, Campsite is used by companies like Plaid, Luma, Clad, and Arrows. All of their plans offer a 30-day free trial (no credit card required). If you discover you love the product, subscriptions start at $16 per month per member when billed annually.

With this in mind, we're happy to tell you that Campsite is now available as a free integration in our app store.
